Mahi and Zaa hair and beauty salon opens in Rochdale

A new hair and beauty salon has been opened in Rochdale by Dewan Gazi and Nida Akhtar, an ambitious husband and wife team with high hopes for their new venture.
The Mahi and Zaa hair and beauty salon – named after the couple’s two children – on Drake Street was officially opened to the Rochdale public on Saturday 11th December. Prior to the official launch, proud owners Nida and Dewan have been rushed off their feet renovating the building up to their exacting standards.
As well as being a hair salon, Mahi and Zaa also has a number of beauty treatment rooms, containing the very latest salon equipment and offering customers a number of services including hair removal and massage. Within the next month or so, a steam room will also be available for salon customers to use.
Nida’s sister Farzana, who has a total of 15 years working within the hair and beauty industry, will manage the salon.
Speaking proudly of his new venture, Dewan said:
“I have wanted to start up my own business for a while and as I am born and bred in Rochdale I saw this as a good place to start. Hopefully for us it will be the beginning of something big and send a message to other people.”
Salon design inspiration: Lavant Rowe Hairdressing in Hampshire

When it comes to top-end hair salon décor, Lavant Rowe Hairdressing in the Hampshire town of Peterfield is the crème de la crème.
Inspired by the French boudoir style, salon owners Chris Scott and Stephen Hartshorne set out to design the interiors for their first salon venture. Once an appropriately upmarket location had been found on Peterfield’s Lavant Street, the duo set to work.
As not much structural work was needed on the site, Scott and Hartshorne immediately set about creating three distinct ‘zones’ in their salon. These were a waiting and reception area (with room for merchandise displays), a wet/backwash area and a cutting and consulting space.
For the salon’s colour scheme, a cool, classic Roman white paint was chosen. This was complemented with silver and black feature wallpaper and terracotta and mottled cream coloured tiles.
Lavant Rowe Hairdressing is also blessed with a number of bespoke and beautiful salon furniture pieces, including a spiral stair case, stunning Marie Antoinette chandeliers and a French antique-style reception desk.
Speaking of the successful design of the 950 sq. ft. salon, co-owner Chris Scott said:
“We think we’ve achieved a balance of contemporary and classic design with a French boudoir twist.”
