In order to give your clients the best possible service when they come into your salon, you need to make sure that you have the right furniture and chairs for them to sit at and sit in. There is plenty of choice when it comes to furniture for your hair or beauty salon as well as there being a wide selection of chairs for you to choose from.
Manicure stations are one of the essential pieces of furniture that you need to have in your beauty salon. Manicure stations have been designed to ensure that the client can sit comfortably at the station without having to over stretch themselves, whilst the manicurist is positioned on the opposite side and can work comfortably on the client’s hands.
Manicure stations come in many different styles and colours so you will need to decide which style and colour is the most appropriate for your salon. However it is worth bearing in mind that although how the manicure station looks is important, it also needs to be practical and serve a purpose. Your clients will really appreciate having a nice manicure station to sit at as well as having a comfortable chair to relax in whilst they are having their treatment done.

If you haven’t had any experience in the hair or beauty industry before, you might not know what is expected from a salon that provides the latest treatments and hair styles. Although you might want to paint your salon in a variety of colours and really show off your creative flair, this can sometimes be a little bit off putting for the customers. If you look at some of the big high street hairdressers, you will notice that although there is personality in their salon, they have stuck to a tried and tested method that works.
Tranquil and calming colours are best suited when it comes to beauty salons and spas. You want to make your clients feel relaxed and enjoy whatever treatment they are having done. Similarly, in a hair salon, although you want it to be more upbeat, you still don’t want it to be in the face of your client. Small pockets of colour would be perfect, especially around the reception area.
You need to make sure that there are plenty of styling units for your staff to put their clients whilst they are having their hair cut. Everybody loves to see how their hair cut is progressing. It also provides the stylist with a shelf to put their hairdryer, scissors and hair straighteners.

When you are booking in to spa or beauty salon for a treatment, you will be going expecting to find the latest equipment and treatments. Similarly, if you own a beauty salon or spa, you need to make sure that you are on the pulse when it comes to having the most up to date equipment, facilities and treatments for your clients.
Facial beauty beds are great for providing your customers or clients with a comfortable chair to sit in which you are doing the treatments that they have requested. It also provides you with being able to move your client around to get them into the right position for waxing, facials and other beauty treatments. You need to make sure that whatever beauty bed you choose is comfortable for the client, stylish for the salon and practical for you. Most of the beauty beds come with a fully adjustable back as well as having the ability to raise the legs and pump the bed to the right height. You won’t find a better selection of beauty beds. If you also need massage chairs, pedicure stations and backwashes, you will be able find a wide selection of these too.

Opening a new salon can be an exciting time, especially when it comes to planning the layout and décor of the space. For many new salon owners, it can be tempting to skip ahead and start ordering salon chairs or choosing paint colours. However, unless you have done some groundwork and sorted out the basics, this is technically a waste of time.
So, what are the basics? The following are five absolutely essential steps you must take before starting on your new salon’s décor. They may even help you with décor-related decisions further down the line.
1. Make a business plan. You need to put in the time (or consult an expert) to create a detailed and well-researched business plan. This will outline your plans and strategies for setting up and running the business, although it must be flexible enough to accommodate any unexpected changes in the future.
2. Research your competition. Find out what other salon businesses are doing in your area in terms of target clientele, prices, services and decor, and how you can stand out from the rest.
3. Make a budget to account for every bit of spending as you set up your salon
4. Work on creating a brand identity, through the salon’s ethos, image, services and name.
5. Start head-hunting for staff, and remember that you only want the best.

When decorating a beauty spa for the first time, it can be difficult to know what colours, fabrics and textures to use to create the perfect atmosphere.
Beauty salons of the past tended to stick to a formula of frilly, feminine décor, but this has fast become outdated. Beauty salons have now become beauty spas, places of health, well-being and tranquillity, where numerous new treatments are offered to ever-demanding clients.
So, how do you create a calm, tranquil atmosphere? The immediate answer for many salon owners is an abundance of white, believing it to be cool, calming and serene.
The only problem with white, apart from it being a slightly unoriginal choice, is that it can create an atmosphere that it cold, clinical and severe. This is why you should aim for more off-white, neutral colours such as creams, peaches and warm, glowing tones.
The lighting scheme should also be gentle and glowing, complemented with natural touches such as fresh flowers and pot plants. Whilst you might not want to go overboard and get a water feature, a smattering of decorative features will help to personalise and enrich the space. Use fabric to soften gleaming white spaces, and allow clients to truly relax in super-comfortable salon furniture.

If you are opening a professional hair salon there are a number of pieces of furniture and equipment that you are going to need in order to facilitate your client’s requests and also to provide them with a really good service.
Backwash units are essential for hair salons. They enable the hair stylist to wash their clients hair without getting their face wet and so that the client is sitting in a comfortable position. Backwashes are equally as important when you are rinsing off the colour that you have applied because you need to make sure that you have got all of the colour off the hair and the hair is washed properly. You can completely see what you are doing when you are washing hair using a backwash.
Most backwashes are height adjustable and some even come with massage chairs so that the client can fully relax whilst they are having their hair washed and scalp massaged. The neck rest should sit comfortably without the client having to strain themselves in order to be in a comfortable position. They will need to be plumbed into the water system so that you have hot and cold water for washing hair.

There are some weird and wonderful items that you can put in your salon but you always need to make sure that you have the basics such as the most appropriate salon chairs. There are many different styles when it comes to salon chairs but the most important thing is that your clients are comfortable whilst they are having their hair done.
Some salon or styling chairs come with rounded back, whereas others are squarer in their design. However they are all really comfortable. You always want to make sure that your clients are comfortable, especially if they are going to be sitting in the chair for a long time.
The same can be said for other chairs that might be used within the industry such as massage chairs and pedicure stations. They are a worthwhile investment, especially if you want to make sure that your salon is ahead of any competition in the area. Your clients will really appreciate that you have taken the time to think about them whilst you have been planning your salon and the services that you offer. You should start to notice that your clients like being appreciated and they will return for their hair cut or pedicure time and time again.

No matter where your salon is, there will be other salons in the area that are vying for your customer’s attention. They might do this by offering a reduced price on their services and products, or they might have a top of the range salon. You always need to make sure that you are ahead of the competition when it comes to the beauty and fashion industry. There are always going to be new styles that will need to be adapted and recreated in store.
First impressions really count when it comes to a beauty salon or hair salon. This is why you need to make sure that you have a stunning salon that looks enticing and is going to impress your potential new clients. This means having the latest salon chairs, having a massage chair for when they are having their hair washed, or pedicure chairs so that they can sit back and relax whilst they are having their pedicure. As well as this, you also need to pay attention to the smaller details such as display cabinets and your reception area. These need to be clutter free and well presented so that your clients can see what products are on offer.

In the rush of opening a new salon, many owners fail to give some areas of the salon the proper time and attention they deserve. The waiting area is often a victim of this, with some salon owners throwing the space together as an afterthought after the main salon area has been planned.
What you may not realise is that, salon chairs and equipment aside, the waiting/reception area of your salon is potentially the most important. Imagine it from a client’s point of view, as they walk through the salon doors, check in for their appointment at the reception desk and then sit down to wait.
This is the time when clients form their first impressions of your salon, especially if they arrive early for their appointment and have plenty of time to scrutinise your salon’s appearance, atmosphere and staff.
The first place they will start when judging your salon? The bench or sofa they are sitting on, and the reception desk in front of them.
This is why you need to make comfort a priority, and style a must. The reception desk should be impressive, memorable but of course, practical, and you mustn’t forget those finishing touches like fresh flowers, the latest magazines and a way to serve hot drinks.

A new salon has opened its doors in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, with the aim of becoming one of the leading hair and beauty businesses in the area.
Silk Salon started accepting bookings at the end of September 2010, but owner Karen Moullali and her team chose to hold the official launch night party at the salon on Monday 1st November. By all accounts, the event was a huge success, with plenty of champagne sipped and early Christmas presents (in the form of the salon’s top brand hair products) shared.
The salon, which is located on Bentley Road in Doncaster, has undergone a huge refurbishment in order to get it up to Ms Moullali’s exacting standards. Silk Salon is now stylishly decorated in minimalist monochrome with accents of pink and purple in decorative items, salon furniture and the lighting scheme. A standout feature of Silk is its pink-striped massage chairs at the backwash, which visitors at the launch event were invited to try out for themselves.
The design and layout of the salon helps to make the best of its admittedly limited space, the end result being a stylish and tastefully decorated space.
